Ainu artist ToyToy visits Perth

Ainu artist Mr Motoi Ogawa (“ToyToy”) gave a public lecture and musical performance at the Hyogo Prefectural Government Cultural Centre in Perth on Wed. 7th June 2017.

Ainu performances are rare even in Japan so to be able to document ToyToy’s visit was fantastic.

ToyToy is visiting Perth from Hokkaido, Japan, to perform at various schools and run workshops aimed at increasing awareness of the Ainu culture.

ToyToy’s visit has been made possible thanks to the efforts of Margo Whittle, with sponsorship provided by the Japanese Language Teachers Association of WA (JLTAWA), the Department of Education WA, the Japan Foundation Sydney, and the Hyogo Prefectural Government Cultural Centre in Perth.
